Uday Dhar

Uday Dhar was born In London Great Britain. He spent his childhood in India, and has lived in New York since 1971 when his family immigrated to the United States. He also lived for 4 years in Berlin from 1991-1994, and they were formative years for him as an artist. Dhar is also a practicing architect and works mainly on individual projects from design to completion. His art practice has focused on the experience of immigration since the beginning. Dhar addresses issues related to freedom as an aspect of personal expression and how everyone lives together on a societal level. The works in this series are very consciously limited to Red, Black and the White of the paper. Color is used as a metaphor and a basis for interpretation.
