Keith Kennedy
Lisa Attentive
Can't we try something simple?
She asks
With the brightest of lights behind her
Can't we sip June like
It's been muddled with glee?
I rankle at the scritch of
The dry razor on her thigh
And she cracks her gum
And the light grapples through her
Auburn hair
The window magnifying the rising heat
From her shoulders
I wipe sweat from between my eyes
Feeling like a primitive as
I nod, hoping if I agree hard
Enough, she'll let me stay awhile
