Artist Statement

My art explores transformation. In my naturally abstract photographs, I bear witness to the healing possibilities found at the confluence of the built world and our natural environment. In my non-manipulated images, ordinary objects are imbued with grace and significance as they juxtapose with sky, water, and flora. My ephemeral, observational lens transcends the object, rendering it capable of human connection. My artistic methodology of single-capture photography uses no double images, layering, nor filtering. I explore natural refractions and reflections in a celebration of evanescent beauty and tender convergence. Luminous natural optics and the prismatic possibilities of light reveal deep color saturation and revelatory moments of abstraction. My photographs explore natural anamorphosis, offering a cognitive experience of texture and surface. My artistic process is spontaneous and intuitive. Surrendering self-will and disentangling from conscious thought, I embrace a state of visual openness and wonder as I am drawn to images revealed around me. The contemporaneity of my art veritably translates to our current societal upheaval. It is a statement of sensitivity to our collective suffering rooted in social and environmental crises. My work moves beyond the object, cohering into visually compelling narratives of healing. My photographs invoke curiosity and inspire new emotions, experiences, and conversations. By celebrating the still point between the natural environment and the built world, I offer a moving and relevant exploration of immediacy, redefining the boundaries of contemporary photography.
