Erin Collinge is a recent B.F.A. graduate of Pratt Institute with an emphasis in printmaking. Her work combines watercolor, ink, and gouache into a misty, ethereal, dream-like environment. With the intricate nature of water-based paint, a variety of ambiguous emotions represent themselves to the viewer. These materials dissolve, stain, and are unforgivable, making them a dynamic combination when building an environment where the psychological center is unconscious emotion. The goal is not for emotion to be ambiguous to the viewer, however; it is for the viewer to feel their own distinct emotion with the aid of the work and the imagery or lack thereof that is presented. The artist's work deals with mental health struggles, emotional toll, and attempts to let others know they are not alone.
