Jamie-May Minjie
Jamie-May Minjie (Taiwanese, b. 1990, Jamie Ma, Taipei) is a millennial writer, poet, visual artist, and cultural entrepreneur living and working in San Francisco. She was awarded with a distinction outcome for her MA from UCL, University of London, and holds bachelor’s degrees in architecture and applied foreign languages. She writes about immigration experiences, modern love, and LGTBQ+ topics. Her expressionistic watercolor explores the potential of flow, fluidity, and the embodiment of trapped emotion release. In 2022, her watercolor was shown at Lexington House Gallery as part of the Upstate Art Weekend, de Young Museum’s Web Gallery Pictures of People, and was selected and featured at The Other Art Fair in Dallas. Her most recent publication, Heart, Diamond, Club, Spade was published with Crome Yellow Press in November 2022. In the book, she tackles her struggles with relationships, wanting to leave a place, and starting new lives. The book’s foreword was by Jason Stefanik, the author of Night Became Years and a Governor General’s Awards finalist poet.
